Promoting the interests of Golf in Kenya

Since 1930

We welcome you to partner with us in our main mission which is centered on fostering and advancing the game of golf throughout Kenya.

Fostering and advancing the game of golf

Since 1930

The Kenya Golfing Society (KGS) was officially established in the year 1930 at the Royal Nairobi Golf Club. The founding of the society was overseen by a dedicated Formation Committee made up of four key individuals: C.N. Day, R.D. England, W\.N. Mackenzie—who served as the Honorary Secretary—and A.C. Tanahill. To this day, the Royal Nairobi Golf Club continues to serve as the principal headquarters and symbolic home of the Society. A special cabinet within the club showcases the Society’s historic trophies and various items of memorabilia, reflecting its rich legacy.

Serving the golfing community

What we do

  • Golf Match and Event Organization: KGS organizes competitive golf matches and social tournaments both locally and internationally, using formats like foursomes and four-ball better-ball.

  • Promotion and Development of Golf in Kenya: The Society actively promotes the sport across the country, supporting its growth, visibility, and participation through structured events and collaboration with golf clubs and societies.

  • Facilitation of Social and Professional Networking: Through its events and exclusive membership, KGS fosters social interaction and networking opportunities among golfers, enhancing camaraderie and community within the sport.

  • Preservation of Golfing Heritage and Recognition: KGS curates and displays historical memorabilia and trophies, while also honoring notable figures in golf through honorary memberships and long-standing traditions.
